I grew up believing in fairy tales. I believed in being swept off my feet and carried off into the sunset on a white horse. I believed in happy endings.
I also believed that bad things only happened to other people.
Unfortunately, I was forced to grow up. I quickly learned that life isn’t always a fairy tale and happy endings are hard to come by. Life can be filled with pain, heartache and tragedy.
As a police officer, I’ve seen some of the worst things humanity has to offer. In my personal life, I’ve experienced the trauma I once believed could only happen to someone else. I was sexually assaulted and I was the victim of an abusive relationship.
I was lucky enough to overcome these events and I was able to create my own happy ending. It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it.
My mission is to empower those who are suffering in silence and remind them that they are not alone. Through my story and the stories that I write, I want to remind others that there is hope!
